Sereikiskes Park

Right in the heart of Vilnius centre, between Gediminas Hill, Vilnele river and Bernardine Monastery, there is Sereikiskes Park. During summer, this park is one of the favourite places for Vilnius residents to go for a walk and for children to play. As you enter the main gate of the park, you can see children’s attractions. There are paths leading deeper into the park along the Vilnele river. There are also tennis courts in the park. According to historical records, the present area of Sereikiskes Park was already developed in the time of Queen Bona. From 1799 to 1919 the area was used for Botanical Gardens – one of the first such public parks in Eastern Europe. In the park grounds, next to the Bernardine Monastery, you can find Vilnius oldest water supply station and potable water laboratory. After World War II, the laboratory was reconstructed and the park was named Youth Gardens. Later it was renamed to Sereikiskes Park.
